The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help with an effort to identify the driver involved in a deadly hit-and-run.
According to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, on Saturday, June 19, 2021, at about 3:00 am, a dark colored SUV (based on dashcam video the vehicle to be a 2006-2009 Hummer H3 SUV) was westbound on Buckeye Road and at 103rd Avenue struck a pedestrian, Viktorija Defrees, in the roadway. Viktorija did not survive the collision.
The dark colored SUV continued westbound on Buckeye Road and failed to remain at the scene and render aid to the victim. Due to the solid structure of this type of vehicle, the damage to the SUV may not be obvious. If you are familiar with a vehicle with the distinctive characteristics in the photo, such as the wide tires, license plate location, and light-colored tow hook, etc., you are asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office.
