Gilbert Police have made an arrest in connection with a hit-and-run crash that sent off-duty Gilbert Police Sergeant Tom Edgerton to the hospital.
According to the Gilbert Police Department, a suspected impaired driver on the southbound lanes of the Loop 101 Pima freeway rear-ended Sgt. Edgerton early Sunday just before 1:30 a.m.
Sgt. Edgerton was riding his privately owned motorcycle at the time of the crash.
The Scottsdale Police Department later located the suspect’s vehicle and apprehended the unidentified driver for DUI and leaving the scene of a collision.
Sgt. Edgerton sustained serious injuries and an initial examination has him in critical, but stable condition at this time.
