Mild shock treatment gains the blessing of FDA

Families of the children with ADHD will now have a boon where the condition of the child can be managed with a new, non-drug treatment. In this treatment, a medical device will be attached to the forehead which will send mild shocks to the nervous system through the brain. In this weekend, there has been an announcement made by the Food and Drug Administration where they have granted the clearance of the Monarch external Trigeminal Nerve Stimulation (eTNS) of Neurosigma. This will surely serve as the best way to treat children who have ADHD. The approval of the FDA for the medical devices is not given in the same way as it is given for the drugs.

The treatment can be availed by the children who are within the age of 7 to 12 who are under the prescription of some other drugs for the ADHD. But this is also made quite clear to the people that this can only be availed if the health experts prescribe it or else it cannot be availed. The director of the Division of Neurological and physical medicine devices has stated a few things about the new form of treatment which can be used to manage ADHD child.

She stated that many treatments could be availed by the parents to manage the ADHD child or even adult. There is a range of methods that can be used for simplifying the management of such a complicated disorder which has symptoms like constant inability to pay attention, trouble while sleeping, impulsiveness, etc. But this new device is quite a safe option that uses no drugs for the treatment of the patients of ADHD and with this mild nerve stimulation can be generated and thereby this can make the condi8tion somewhat manageable.

There are many treatments which are available to make behavioural changes with the use of the stimulants. But these stimulants can work up to a limit. Some children have no response to the stimulants according to the reports produced in the year 2016. But after the use of the stimulants, there are many side-effects seen as well. This also increases the risks of the future addictions as well as the treatment of the disorder.

In this case, the new device is just a boon for ADHD patients. This is a small device which is merely like a smartphone how fast the size is concerned. This has wires and is attached to a patch of forehead right above the eyebrows. This creates the stimulant which is then passed to the trigeminal nerve which is the cranial nerve that is quite held responsible for the sensation of biting of swallowing things.

This is something that makes its way to the part of the brain like the cerebral cortex. This is the part that helps to regulate the emotions, behaviour and the thoughts of a person. This also enhances the ability to focus. This is seen that treatment for a couple of weeks with the use of the device can even help in the reduction of the symptoms.
