Closure Order Issued For Areas Near Telegraph Fire

Tonto National Forest officials have issued a Telegraph Fire public safety closure order that took effect at 3 p.m. today. It will remain in effect until August 1, or until rescinded.

The Telegraph Fire has consumed 25,000 acres and is currently burning 5 miles southwest of Top-of-the-World and burning east, parallel to US 60.

The Town of Superior is still in “SET- Be Alert” status. Residents should continue to monitor Pinal County Sherriff’s Office notifications for any changes to alert levels at https://twitter.com/PinalCSO

Tonto National Forest officials, “Values at risk include Silver King Substation, Arizona Public Service and Salt River Project main transmission lines, as well as related infrastructure at Resolution Mines.”

State Route 60, along with Forest Roads 231 and 310 are open; Forest Roads 2 and 349 are closed.
