Over 200 firefighters battled a six alarm fire at a recycling yard near 35th Avenue and Buckeye on Saturday. It was the largest response to a fire in the department’s history.
One firefighter was injured and taken to the hospital where he is in stable condition.

The fire consumed recycling yards and five buildings.
The smoke could be seen from Ahwatukee to Mesa.
Nearly 800 APS customers were without power.
