On May 28, 2021 at approximately 7:00 PM, Flagstaff Police responded to the intersection of Butler Avenue and Beaver Street for a report of a serious injury accident. When officers arrived they found that a tow truck towing a moving truck had ran the red light and collided with a group of bicyclists that were travelling South on Beaver Street.
The driver was travelling west bound through the intersection after the light had turned to red. The light for the bicyclists had turned green and they started to cross. The tow truck driver has been identified as Normand Cloutier, age 58, of California.
According to Flagstaff Police, as of this time, there were six bicycles riders struck by the truck. One rider was pronounced deceased at the scene, four other riders were transported to the Flagstaff Medical Center for treatment, and one refused treatment at the scene.
Police are not releasing the names of the riders at this time.
