Hickenlooper appoints Ecton as a county court judge

Gov. John Hickenlooper has announced the appointment of Kraig Ecton as a county court judge for the 8th Judicial District (Larimer County.) Ecton will fill a vacancy due to the retirement of the Hon. Christine Carney.

Ecton currently works for the Fort Collins City Attorney’s Office, where he practices municipal law with an emphasis in police services, municipal court management and prosecution, information systems and real estate. Previously, Ecton was an instructor at Colorado State University. Ecton worked at the Law Offices of Kraig Ecton, Hoeven Management Resources, and at Hewlett Packard. Ecton was a Deputy District Attorney for the 8th Judicial District and a law clerk to the Hon. John-David Sullivan, Chief Judge for the 8th Judicial District.

Ecton earned a bachelor’s degree from Colorado College, a J.D. from the University of Colorado and master’s degree in business administration from Colorado State University.

The appointment is effective Dec. 31, 2013.
