CBP Officers Apprehend Kansas Fugitive Sought For Sexual Offense Against A Child

LAREDO, Texas – Salomon Hernandez Meza, a 75-year-old male Mexican citizen and resident alien, was arrested by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Laredo Port of Entry. Officials had an outstanding warrant on Hernandez Meza for aggravated indecent liberties with a child in Liberal, Kansas.

“Our frontline officers help keep our communities safe by apprehending travelers with outstanding warrants for a variety of crimes, including those of a sexual nature that impact children, as in this case,” said Acting Port Director Eugene Crawford, Laredo Port of Entry.

Hernandez Meza’s arrest occurred on Saturday, February 6th, 2021 at the Juarez-Lincoln Bridge. A CBP officer processing vehicle traffic arriving from Mexico, referred Hernandez Meza for a secondary inspection. After escorting the passenger to secondary, subsequent biometric verification through law enforcement databases confirmed that he had an outstanding felony warrant for aggravated indecent liberties with a child/ sexual assault/child fondling, pursued by the Seward County Sheriff’s Office.

The warrant was confirmed to be active. CBP officers transported Hernandez Meza to Webb County Jail in Laredo, Texas to await criminal proceedings.
