The united states have reported about 695 serious measles case this year from 22 states. Though the victims of the disease are mostly young children, unvaccinated adults are also affected by the contagious disease too. Currently, Israel is the massive facing outbreak of measles-like in the United States. According to a recent report, an Israeli woman got into a coma due to the effect of measles virus this month. The woman is of 43 years old, suffered from measles symptoms earlier. The condition worsened and got the patient into coma.
The health officials are worried about the adult population in the country who born before 1989. They might need another dose of measles vaccine as the chances of infection to adults are there. The individuals who born before 1989, they got vaccinated as children. But there are still risks of getting infected by the current outbreak. The woman in Israel who is in a coma was a flight attendant. Her flights are usually flying Israel to the United States. The woman may infect by the people in the flight as both Israel and the United States have a massive outbreak of measles. Though the woman was vaccinated, became the victim of the contagious disease.
In the 1980s, there was only one vaccine given to the children for measles. Now the young children are provided two doses of vaccine for MMR. Due to subsequent outbreaks, after the 1980s the doses have increased. A single dose of the current MMR vaccine is 93 percent effective whereas two doses of the vaccine are 97 percent effective. So the center for disease control and prevention advised the adults to get vaccinated again with MMR vaccine. The disease was eradicated from the United States from the year 2000, but the number of measles cases this year is largest since the year it was eradicated from the United States.
Moreover, individuals born before m1989 vaccinated for the measles virus are at risk because of the effectiveness of the vaccine then. The vaccine in the 1980s was not too effective as the current MMR vaccine. It is known to the people that, by vaccination, they got immune against the measles virus. The effectiveness of the vaccine should be considered to prevent the measles virus. So the CDC has recommended the adults in the country to get MMR vaccine again.
Because the disease is spreading rapidly in the countries all over the world, a hundred percent vaccinations are essential. Parents of young children are advised to get their children vaccinated against the contagious disease. The people who are residential of New Jersey, Washington, Michigan, New York, and California needs to get more careful as the outbreak in these regions are massive now. Another shot of the MMR vaccine is going to save you from the contagious disease, so there is no harm to get vaccinated again. The massive outbreak of measles has made many countries worried. Every week several new cases are being reported.
