SCOTTSDALE, AZ – The Scottsdale Police Department released a video showing the subject of a traffic stop trying to run over a Scottsdale Police officer.
Matthew Thomas Crook was arrested and booked for Aggravated Assault against a Scottsdale Police Officer.
A Scottsdale Police officer was hit after Crook was stopped and then intentionally reversed into the officer’s motorcycle. The initial incident happened near Indian School Rd and Scottsdale Rd. Crook with a female passenger, then fled the traffic stop. Crook struck an uninvolved vehicle, near 75th Street and Indian School Rd and fled from this collision. Officers located Crook’s vehicle and a brief pursuit ensued. The vehicle entered an apartment complex near 78th St and Camelback Rd and Crook and the female fled on foot. The vehicle was later recovered by police.
After a few minutes, police learned Crook and the female had stolen an ambulance from an unrelated medical incident in the area. The ambulance was abandoned and recovered in the area of 79th St and Heatherbrae. Crook and the female were last seen by witnesses running into the neighborhood. The female suspect was apprehended by police a short while after.
The officer sustained minor injuries. The hit and run victim was not injured.
