Last week, a man ate lunch at a restaurant in the 700 block of W. Mississippi Avenue and paid with is credit card. The next day he realized his card was missing.
The victim then called the restaurant to see if he had left it there, but no credit card had been turned in. A couple days later, the victim called the establishment again, but to no avail. He then called the credit card company and learned that in the two days he went without his card, it had been charged numerous times.
The man returned to the restaurant where he last used his card, and he and the manager reviewed the security tapes from the day he ate there, which showed a waitress taking the card off the table after the victim left. With a picture of the waitress in hand, the victim took it around to all the places his card had been used with staff positively identifying the waitress.
After obtaining copies of the fraudulent transactions, the victim contacted police. Denver Police District 4 police responded to the restaurant in the 700 block of Mississippi Avenue and arrested 23 year-old Ashleigh Padilla. The victim’s credit card, as well as two others, were recovered from Padilla’s purse.
