Sahuarita Police Continue To Investigate Death Of Tucson Woman

The Sahuarita Police Department is asking for the public’s help as it continues to investigate the death of a Tucson woman, Jing Hu, that occurred at approximately 10:14 p.m. on June 20, 2021.

When officers arrived on the scene in the 200 block of E. Thomas Jefferson Way, they found the 34-year-old Hu suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers and Paramedics attempted lifesaving efforts for several minutes in an effort to revive Ms. Hu. These efforts were unsuccessful.

The investigation thus far has shown that Ms. Hu was the ex-girlfriend of the current resident. Ms. Hu and the resident reportedly ended their relationship a few months ago to include access to the home. In addition, information gathered so far has shown that the resident did not expect Ms. Hu to come over that evening, nor had they spoken to each other for some time.

Ms. Hu entered the residence through a window in the side back yard. The resident in the home heard a commotion in a room and retrieved a firearm. The resident entered the room, which was dark at the time and saw a shadowy figure of a person. He perceived a threat and fired at least three times, striking Ms. Hu. The resident turned on the light and recognized Ms. Hu. He immediately called 9-1-1. The resident has been cooperative with the investigation and provided a statement to SPD detectives.

The investigation is continuing, and investigators have not made any final conclusions.
