Arizona State Rep. alerted the public to a viscous act or vandalism that left her synagogue with broken widows and a swastika and slur spray painted on a door.
“Sad to wake up to the news that @Chabad on River was vandalized. When it happens to one, it happens to all of us. The amount of Jewish hate isn’t shocking. The silence is. This is NOT my #Tucson,” Hernandez tweeted.

Raging #Antisemitism in America won’t recede until our neighbors join us in demanding our politicians take swift action. Silence is admittance. Thank you @almaforarizona https://t.co/Nio1IeHPK5

Rep. Hernandez set up a Gofundme page to cover the costs associated with increased security:
Today I reach out to you as a member and board member of my synagogue in Tucson Arizona. This morning we learned that the glass on our front door had been shattered by a large stone. Our synagogue was vandalized, and we must all stand together in support of our dear Rabbi Aaron and our community. We have been trying to properly equip our shul with the security needed this included fencing, gates, a new security system, and cameras. We have applied for grants and have not been awarded any of them and can’t continue to wait.
So I ask you ALL to join us and give what you can to help us take a stand against antisemitism. Our Tucson Jewish community will not be intimidated and we will stand proud as Jews. Make no mistake. This was NOT an accident and we hope the person who did this will be held accountable. The hate and anger towards Jews need to stop immediately. This is Antisemitism. When it happens to one of us, it happens to all of us. Please share and help us secure our synagogue so the vandalism doesn’t continue.
With love,
Alma
