Telegraph Fire Forces Evacuation Of Top Of The World And Area West Of Miami

Pinal County Sheriff’s Office has issued a “GO!” alert for Top-of-the World residents and those living west of Miami town limits to evacuate immediately as a result of the Telegraph Fire. The fire has consumed 25,000 acres so far.

The Red Cross has set up an evacuation center at Lee Kornegay Intermediate School at 4635 Railroad Avenue in Miami and at Skyline High School in Mesa.

Large animal sheltering is currently available at the Birch Stockyard at 2822 N Hwy 188 in Globe and the Apache Junction Rodeo grounds.

The Town of Superior is still in “SET- Be Alert” status. Residents should continue to monitor Pinal County Sherriff’s Office notifications for any changes to alert levels.

On Saturday night, firefighters conducted tactical firing operations on NFS Road 230 to prevent the Telegraph Fire from encroaching into the Town of Superior. Firing operations successfully burned out excess fuels on the southern end of the fire.
