Apollo 10 Crew was watched by the entire world

A strenuous training grilled the Apollo 11’s astronauts back in May 1969. If the training had been delayed, the launch to be made in the 1960s could have been deflected from the target of landing on the moon. In contrast to the entire circumstance, on the verge of learning how to remote the command service module, operate the systems, and the lunar module, Michael Collins, Buzz Aldrin, and Neil Armstrong had to watch their language. The only reason to learn the language was because of Apollo mission predecessors- the Apollo 10 crew of Thomas Stafford, Gene Cernan and John Young.

The Apollo 10 astronauts spent their May 18-26, 1969 for the dress rehearsal for Apollo 11. Apollo 11 was put into a mission to land on the moon’s surface. These three astronauts were cursing like drunken sailors. Stafford was from the Air Force, and the other two were from the Navy. This incident is known as the Profanity Incident in which millions of television viewers watched this incident. When the rocket was boarded with the Mission Commander Stafford, and lunar modulate pilot Cernan were flying the lunar module just 49,000 feet from the surface of the moon, the rocket mission started to roll in a breath-stopping way. Those watching on the television could exactly hear Cernan exclaiming, “Son of A bitch.” On checking the landing site for Apollo 11, Cernan made an exclusive statement, “You know, this Goddam…” and then stopped haphazardly before initiating his statement again.

During their ordinary conversation among the astronauts, Apollo 10 moon mission went on cursing in their statement by saying how ‘bastards’ not to give them ‘Velcro.’ According to mission transcripts, Stafford said it for one time. After that moment, command module pilot Young exaggerated by saying that he did not want that shit laughing it out. All these statements were creating havoc responses back on Earth. In consequence of the entire conversation of these three experts, President of the non-denominational Miami Bible College, Dr. Larry Poland communicated with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration(NASA) and President Richard Nixon to reiterate about the statements made in air about the profuse profanity from the Apollo 10 crew and demanded that they should apologize for their behavior.

According to the transcripts decoded by NASA, the astronauts were believed to curse for at least 230 times. This entire incident makes it remarkable as most of the cursing came from the command-module pilot Collins. When the whole world gazed their attention on everything they cited in their statement, the Apollo 11 astronauts established themselves to be great ambassadors for the United States. The word ‘shit’ was used for 157 times with profanity. The Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne started to defend the petition brought against the Apollo 10 crew.

It could have been different if the crew of the Apollo 10 did not use language in any way. But their behavior can only be defended by saying that they were under extreme pressure, which made them exhibit it. That was a different zone from them, which was 240,000 miles away from the planetary conditions of the earth.
