Teen Mothers prefer extended duration contraception techniques over condoms

Teen mothers have stopped the frequent use of Condoms for birth control. They prefer long term contraceptive solutions to avoid pregnancy. Devices like IUD (intrauterine device) prevent the risk of pregnancy at a higher level as suggested by a U.S. study.

Proper use of Condoms will always remain the utmost method of preventing unwanted pregnancy, HIV, and STIs. An American college, a specialist in Gynaecology, suggests giving long term contraceptive solutions to all new mothers. They also mention about making it mandatory to support population control.

To this thought’s success, women all across the world prefer contraception for a more extended period. Moreover, this eventually reduces the birth rates and teen pregnancy count. Every successful alternative comes with certain drawbacks.

These contraception techniques do not protect the body against the infections that are transmitted sexually. The teens are prone to sexual infections for which condom remains the only alternative. In a recent survey, it is found that amongst 5,480 new mothers, 29% were aware of using a condom. Only half of the teen women who use long-duration contraception techniques use condoms.

Teenagers are prone to HIV and chlamydia. Health officials recommend the use of condoms for teenagers. There are possible treatments of gonorrhea and chlamydia only if they are detected in an early stage. If these diseases do not undergo surgery within the time, then it will make a woman impossible to conceive in the future.

Treatments are developed for HIV, but there is no complete cure to it. Patients will have to undergo surgery for a lifetime to control it. From the recent survey, it is known that no recent teen mothers are planning to go for a second pregnancy. The study tells that women are mostly unmarried and below 20 years of age.

21% of the surveyed women are using long term contraception techniques like IUDs. 17% of women have implanted hormonal patch under the arms. Most teen women using IUDs deny to the use of condom while only 15% agreed to its use.

25% of women who use short contraceptive techniques like pills, injections, or rings use condoms to be 100% assured of unwanted pregnancy. This survey was done to find out if the teens know the importance of using a condom during sexual intercourse. The investigation brought out the idea of many women. It says that condoms are more required to prevent pregnancy than preventing STIs.

Some research gives out information that there is no difference found in the use of condom after the implantation of IUDs. It remains the same as it is before the implantation. Unwanted pregnancy is one term that is capable of ruining some teenager’s lives.

It is always recommended by professionals and experts to use contraceptive techniques to help birth control and reduce the risk of abortion. The condoms are necessarily required for teens. By some means, it should be made mandatory for teens to use condoms during intercourse. It reduces the risk of getting the infections that are transmitted through sex.
