Three children are missing after a vehicle they were in was swept away by flooding in the Tonto Basin area.
According to the Gila County Sheriff’s Office, on November 29, 2019 at approximately 4:11 p.m., the office received a call of a vehicle stuck in Tonto Creek near the Bar X Crossing. Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office and the Arizona Department of Public Safety helicopters rescued one adult and four children who were stranded on an island. Another adult was rescued from the shore.
The search operation continues for a reported three additional missing children.
