Huey Freeman – Editor in chief
Huey has recently been serving as executive editor of Arizona Daily Independent, previously worked as a reporter for daily newspapers in Central Illinois. He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in journalism at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and has been an adjunct professor at Millikin University and Eastern Illinois University. An author of two published books, he is working on two books on the southern border. Huey is married, with four adult children.
Loretta Hunnicutt- Author/Publisher
Loretta Hunnicutt got her start as a columnist at the Tucson Citizen covering education and child welfare issues. After leaving the Citizen, Loretta and her husband John started the Arizona Daily Independent in 2011. The Arizona Daily Independent is a member of the Arizona Newspapers Association. Loretta’s coverage of the abuse of minor refugees in shelters has been picked by CNN, and the Los Angeles Times among other outlets. Since John’s passing, Loretta has taken over the American Daily Independent News Network as part of her commitment to him to provide independent news and opinion to the public at no cost.
