Shooting Investigation Underway in North Portland’s Piedmont Neighborhood

On Thursday August 20,2015, at 8:07 P.m., North Precinct and Gang Enforcement Team (GET) officers responded to the report of a traffic crash and shooting at North Vancouver Avenue and Holman Street.

Officer and medical personnel arrived and located the male adult victim suffering from several injuries. The victim was transported to a Portland hospital and is expected to survive.

Preliminary information indicates that the victim was a passenger in a vehicle being driven in the area when an occupant of a car in front of him fired multiple shots at him, causing the driver to swerve and crash into a pole. The driver and two passengers in the vehicle fled the scene but returned a short time later.

The victim’s injuries appear to be related to the crash rather than gunshot wounds.

The only suspect information is that the shooter was in a white vehicle that left the area.

Anyone who witnessed the shooting should call the Police Non-Emergency Line at 503-823-3333.

The Tactical Operations Division is continuing to investigate several incidents of gun violence citywide.
