Lane County Man Loses Life In Crash East Of Springfield

On August 20, 2015 at about 2PM, OSP Troopers and emergency personnel responded to the report of a vehicle into a tree on HWY 126 near milepost 18 (east of Springfield).

According to Sergeant Alan Gilbert, a 2000 Chevrolet pickup was traveling eastbound on Highway 126 when it drifted off the roadway, struck a tree, and caught fire. Passing motorists pulled the operator, Robert O LOGAN, age 83, of Leaburg, from the vehicle.

LOGAN was transported to Sacred Heart Riverbend where he was pronounced deceased. Highway 126 was closed for approximately four hours with traffic detoured onto Holden Creek Road. There were two other non-injury crashes in the area due to the heavy traffic caused by the crash. OSP was assisted by the Oregon Department of Transportation, McKenzie Fire and Springfield/Eugene Fire and Rescue.
