The ancient four-legged whale swam in the sea of Peru, says the scientists

The old whale with four legs, hoofed toes, and webbed feet are found on the soil of earth about fifty million years ago. In research published in Current Biology reveals, evidence of an ancient whale with four legs lived 42.6 years ago along the coast of Peru. The newly discovered species is named as Peregocetus pacificus by the international team. The ancestors of this species came from sea to land, then again to the sea, living in South Asia. The anciently known whale was found in many parts of the world. The complete skeleton was first discovered outside of Pakistan and India. The unusual newly discovered whales are believed to be the earlier form of whale that is not fully transitioned in the living water. The newfound facts also provide a clue about the whales spreading around the world, and the ancestors of the whales lived in South America before North America.

Currently found whale is not like the whales we know, these are like ancient whales with small hooves which enables them walking on the land and standing. The body parts also have significant capabilities to swim and travel a long distance. The whales are about four meters long and have excellent locomotion ability. The existence of the species also demonstrates the whale with four legs is capable of crossing the South Pacific Ocean retaining the weight bearing and functional limbs. The transition happened in less than twenty million years after the whale’s origin. The journey of the ancient whales is impressive as they spread across the world from South Asia to Africa, to South America. The creatures like dolphin and whale have adopted the living water from a four-legged land animal with the years of transition.

According to the fossil which has been preserved, the whales are generally of eleven feet long, with four legs and broad tail, hoofed toes. That enables them to well-adapted in both water and land. Well, there are cases some whales are still discovered with small hind limbs inside the body wall. The newly found whale is otherwise named as “the traveling whale that reached the Pacific.” The new record from the south pacific indicates the ancient whales capable of crossing the south Atlantic attaining equatorial distribution. The animal has aquatic and terrestrial locomotion ability, less than ten million years after the origin.

The cetaceans have originated from South Asia about more than fifty million years ago. According to the Journal current biology the fossil of the animal found at the coast of Peru in 2011 by Mario Urbina- the Palaeontologist and the team. They discovered the Skelton along with the tail, spine and the jaw legs. The newly discovered whales are believed to be the ancient whales with no transition and have four legs. The findings say that the creature has high locomotion capabilities and adapted to both aquatic and terrestrial ecology. There will be more facts to be revealed about this ancient whale found newly.
